Bowen Technique & Craniosacral Therapy
Bowen and Craniosacral are relaxing physical therapies developed respectively by Tom Bowen in Australia, and John Upledger of the Upledger of the Upledger Institute
Treatments consist of a series of gentle moves on the muscles and tendons. As a gentle, relaxing therapy, Bowen and Craniosacral can be used on anyone, from new-born infants to the elderly, and benefits a wide range of conditions. Some patients feel immediate effects.
When a professional volleyball player got injured on the court, Tom Bowen performed his technique on her and she recovered within a few minutes and resumed the game, healthy.
Once while Dr. Darrow Hand was hiking through Haleakala, he saw a woman having an asthmatic attack. She didn’t have her inhaler and asked for help. He performed the techniques for asthma and she was able to hike out of the crater without a problem.
Treatments are usually done fully clothed. You can expect to feel very relaxed after this therapy.
Bowen and Craniosacral are typically used for musculoskeletal issues, but can help with gastrointestinal, gynecological, respiratory and endocrine problems. The therapies reduce stress, improves joint mobility, increases lymph drainage and aid in toxin elimination.
Dr. Hand is a certified Bowen Therapist, Craniosacral Therapist as well as a Naturopathic Physician. Call 808-392-8774 for more information, to book an appointment, or for a free 15-minute phone consultation
